UK July CBI retailing reported sales -34 vs -46 prior

The downturn in UK retail sales continues for a tenth consecutive month. Of note, rising prices seem to be a concern for consumers though the decline in activity wasn’t as pronounced as in June. The measure of expected sales for August also did rise to -31 from -49 in the month before, but that’s still a negative figure. Stagflation risks will remain a concern with reports like this.
