New Zealand data: August trade balance is NZD -1.19bn (prior -578mn)

New Zealand August trade deficit widens as exports fall.

New Zealand posted a monthly trade deficit of NZ$1.19bn in August, sharply wider than July’s NZ$578m shortfall.

The 12-month rolling deficit narrowed to NZ$2.99bn, down from NZ$3.94bn previously.Exports fell to NZ$5.94bn (from NZ$6.71bn in July). Imports eased slightly to NZ$7.12bn (from NZ$7.28bn).
