Iran, Britain, France and Germany have agreed to hold talks on Tehran’s nuclear program

Weekend news that Iran, along with Britain, France, and Germany, has agreed to restart discussions on its nuclear program, according to Iran’s semi-official Tasnim news agency.

The decision follows warnings from the three European nations that international sanctions could be reinstated if talks didn’t resume.

Tasnim is the Iranian news agency:

“The principle of talks has been agreed upon, but consultations are continuing on the time and place of the talks. The country in which the talks could be held next week has not been finalized,”

Since that statement Friday has been set as the date, in Istanbul.

The EU nations will also act as proxy for the US. Oil markets will be watching this news of talks, the reasoning being that anything that brings Iran closer to the international community increases the prospect of more oil from the country. More supply, at the margin.
