China to hold a NPC Standing Committee meeting June 24 to 27

Its to review anti-competition law is the word.

I imagine topics such as Trump tariffs and the Middle East may very well come up also.

The China NPC Standing Committee meeting refers to a session held by the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress (NPC) — the top legislative body in China.

It’s the permanent body of the National People’s Congress, which is China’s top legislature.

While the full NPC (with ~3,000 delegates) meets once a year in March, the Standing Committee meets every couple of months and carries out legislative duties the rest of the year.

It has around 170–180 members, including the NPC Chairman, Vice-Chairpersons, and Secretary-General.

The NPC Standing Committee:

Passes laws when the full NPC is not in session

Amends existing laws

Approves major administrative appointments, like ministers or central bank officials

Reviews international treaties

Oversees other state organs, like the State Council (cabinet), courts, and prosecutors
