Yesterday afternoon Trump promised to release “a minimum” of seven letters to countries with higher tariff rates and August 1 deadlines this morning. In addition, he promised tariffs on ‘a number’ of countries in the afternoon.
The market is largely treating this as a hollow threat that will be dropped by August 1.
